Increase your gprs speed on pc.

Hi all.
This blog is intended for helping users connecting net via gprs.
These are some minor tweaks that you can do without any ones help.

I use a nokia branded phone so i am going to explain on its basis.

The first thing u have to do is install the Nokia PC Suite.
Please follow the link to download Pc suite:

Download pc suite

Then install it.
We have first create a new connection. We can do that easily in Pc suite.
Click the
icon .

It opens another window.
Click the wrench icon(settings) .
In the next window opt for manual settings if u are using aircel . ( Other carriers are there in the list )
Then in the next window in the access point give in "aircelgprs" without quotes.
The new connection is done.
Click connect.

Now u are connected to the internet.
Now to increase the speed.
Download a software called Internet download manager. It gives the highest download speeds.
Believe me i have tested all others .
Download internet download manager here .

Now we have to Configure the connection settings.

Go to device manager-
1.Press Ctrl+R
2.Enter devmgmt.msc

 Press enter and youll go into device manager window-

Now goto the ports section and open the nokia port

Now select the max amount in bits per second section.
And the settings as in the image.
Then press ok.

Now what windows does it it reserves about 20% of your bandwidth.
This speed is used for windows updation and such that.
You can make it 0 and get back ur 20% speed by-


1.Log on as "Administrator".

2. Run - gpedit.msc

3. Expand the "Local Computer Policy" branch

4. Then expand the "Administrative Templates" branch

5. Expand the "Network" branch

6. Highlight the "QoS Packet Scheduler" in left pane.

7. In the right window pane double-click the "Limit Reservable Bandwidth" setting

8. On the settings tab check the "Enabled" item

9. Change "Bandwidth limit %" to read 0

10. Then go to your Network connections Start=>Connect to=>Show All Connections and
right-click on your connection. Then under the General or the Networking tab,
(where it lists your protocols) make sure QoS packet scheduler is enabled.


Done do this and u will get speeds upto the speed of 128kbps broadband connection.
